2012 Softball Playoff Schedule Announced

New double-elimination format with play-in game

This year's playoff format will be different from previous years due to having an odd number of teams.

The playoffs will be double elimination, with a single-elimination play-in game between the #4 seed and #5 seed. Playoffs are the last two Saturdays in August (the 18th and 25th).

This playoff format rewards seeds #1-3 by automatically qualifying them for double elimination in the playoffs, and gives extra incentive for the currently-lower-positioned teams to win during the regular season in order to improve their playoff seeding.
